For YEARS, Nashville's New Year's Eve celebration has been right in the heart of downtown...but that won't be the case in 2017.
This year, the Nashville Convention and Visitors' Corp (NCVC) has decided to move the party to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park (a little north of downtown) and has renamed it "Jack Daniels Music City Midnight: New Years Eve in Nashville".
According to the NCVC, the growth of the event, heightened security, and concerns about space caused the city to look elsewhere for a location. The traditional music note drop and fireworks display will now have the State Capitol building and the Nashville skyline as a backdrop.
But if you're used to hitting Lower Broadway for the celebration, no need to worry! The city is planning on putting a large video screen on Broadway AND having a second fireworks display over the Cumberland River so that citizens and visitors will have multiple locations to ring in the New Year from.
