The Nashville Preds took on the Jets in Game 2 Sunday night, but what was even more exciting is what happened prior to the game starting!
The Preds took the time to honor a special guest who was in attendance, James Shaw Jr., the man who single handedly tackled and disarmed the Waffle House shooter last week. 4 people lost their lives in the shooting, but if it wasn't for Shaw's brave actions and quick thinking, the outcome could've been MUCH worse.
Shaw participated in some fun pre-game activities outside the Bridgestone Arena AND was presented with a customized jersey by Predators coach Peter Laviolette. That jersey had Shaw's name on the back, and a captain's 'C' on the front!
During the game, Shaw was also recognized and welcomed with a standing ovation from the entire area full of Preds fans!
Not only did James Shaw quickly end the tragedy at Waffle House that night, he also ramped up a GoFundMe for the families of the victims and everyone affected, raising more than $160k to date!
A TRUE REAL LIFE HERO!
