Harvard study shows Tennessee well ahead of the curve for COVID-19 testing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —A new study from Harvard University says Tennessee is ahead of the curve when it comes to coronavirus testing.

A Harvard Global Health Institute /NPR study shows Tennessee’s COVID testing is among the best in the country.

At 8,365 tests per day, the state is doing far more than the 3,266 daily tests recommended by the Harvard study.

As of Sunday, Tennessee Department of Health reported 14,985 positive cases of COVD-19 and 246,884 negative test results. There have been 243 deaths reported in the state. More than half of Tennessee's COVID-19 cases have recovered.

Since the first case was reported on March 5, novel coronavirus has spread to nearly every county in the state.

Most cases remain mild, some even asymptomatic, but other cases have lead to more than 1,300 hospitalizations and death.
