Nashvillian and NFL star Jalen Ramsey donates $1 million to local school

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--National Football League (NFL) star cornerback and Nashville native Jalen Ramsey has donated $1 million to a local school to help underprivileged children and "help level the playing field."

In a statement release by Ramsey shared by the AthletesFirst Agency, the former Ensworth High School standout turned NFL star cornerback announced the donation to Purpose Preparatory Academy in Nashville. The school is recognized for its academic performance and work with economically disadvantaged students. The school touts being in the top 5% in the state for academic performance.

Ramsey released the following statement on the donation:

“I chose to support Purpose Prep because it is important for every child to have the opportunity to receive a great education, and the Purpose Prep programs are designed for underprivileged children in my hometown to have access to those services.

I believe in its mission and want to help level the playing field since a solid elementary education is the foundation to a successful future.” -Jalen Ramsey

Ramsey is currently a cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams after spending his first few seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
