Judge Rules Woman Must Choose Her Confederate Flag Or Her Biracial Child

A judge has ruled that an Albany, New York mother must remove a rock that is painted with a confederate flag from her driveway, as it poses a threat to the well-being of her biracial child. Justice Stanley Pritzker has ruled in a 5-0 decision that the rock should be removed by June 1st or it could be a factor, "into any future best interests analysis,” as it pertains to the child. The mother, Christie BB, as identified in court, says she’s never used racial slurs around her child or at all, however, the judge declared the rock as “a symbol inflaming the already strained relationship between the parties.” The child’s law guardian Jason Leifer told The Times-Union he was in favor of the court’s ruling, however, he says he’s unsure if the rock belongs to the mother. "What’s going to have to happen is this — if the issue is raised the court will need to hear evidence of the child how the child’s well-being is negatively affected by a parent’s views and opinions,” said Leifer.
