New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries is hoping to replace Nancy Pelosi as House Democratic Leader. The 52-year-old formally announced his bid in a letter sent to his House colleagues on Friday. If elected, Jeffries would be the first Black person to serve as a Congressional party leader. Earlier this week, Pelosi announced she would step down after a 20-year run as the chamber's top Democrat. A vote on new leadership will be held Nov. 30th.
