Stevie Wonder Visits Aretha Franklin Following Reported Hospice Care

Aretha Franklin was visited by her friend and fellow soul musician Stevie Wonder at her home in Detroit on Tuesday (August 14).

Franklin's publicist confirmed the "Superstition" singer's visitation to Us Weekly following stories that the icon was "gravely ill" and surrounded by family before reportedly receiving hospice care in her hometown. As stated recently by her nephew Tim Franklin who said his aunt is "alert, laughing, teasing," it's believed she is still in stable condition as of late.

Others to check in on the singer have been Reverend Jesse Jackson and the 76-year-old's ex-husband, Glynn Turman.

As previously reported, Franklin, who had been battling cancer since 2010, was said to have been down to 86 pounds and in dire straits due to her declining health. "Prepare yourself, she's dying," an insider told TMZ. "She could go any time."

Wonder penned and wrote what would become Franklin's RIAA gold record-accomplishing hit in 1974, "Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do).” The track marked her status as the first artist in Billboard's Hot 100 history to have a smash peak at each position from one to ten on the chart.

Since the news of her ailing health, the legend has received an outpouring of support from musicians and celebrities.

Beyonce and Jay-Z, who performed in Franklin's native Detroit Monday night (August 13), dedicated the show in her honor, in which the singer led the crowd in a performance of her smash, "Respect."

"Continued prayers for the Queen of Soul," Mariah Carey wrote on Instagram. "My thoughts, my heart and my prayers are with Aretha Franklin," tweeted Patti LaBelle, lauding her as "the greatest singer of all time."

This is still a developing story.
