Frozen Breakfast Burritos Recalled After Small Rocks Found Inside Them

8-Pack family size of frozen El Monterey egg, potato, bacon and cheese sauce breakfast wraps

Ruiz Foods, Inc. is recalling over 246,000 pounds of frozen breakfast burritos because customers have reported finding small rocks inside them. The El Monterey frozen egg, potato, bacon and cheese wrap items were produced on January 17, 2019 and January 18, 2019. The recall impacts the eight-pack family size packages which have "best by" dates of January 17, 2020 and January 18, 2020, and lot codes of 19017 and 19018.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall, saying that three people reported finding the rocks and one of those people was injured after biting into the burritos.

"The company received a report of a potential injury associated with the consumption of this product. FSIS has received no additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products," FSIS said in a news release.

Customers who purchased the burritos should throw them away or take them back to the store for a refund.
