Black Breastfeeding Week

"Homeland Heart Birth & Wellness Collective is a new community organization dedicated to reducing maternal and infant mortality in the Black community. Through direct involvement with those in need, we seek to implement programs that will nurture and educate families directly impacted by the disparities affecting African-American women and children in Middle Tennessee.

Our inaugural Toast to Tits, honoring black breastfeeding mothers, will be held at the new Honey Alexander Center. This event will award 30 African-American mothers, during Black Breastfeeding Week, for their commitment to breastfeeding. By applauding each individual effort and encouraging women to continue, we aim to increase the duration of breastfeeding among women of color in an effort to decrease the infant mortality rates among African-American infants"
