A beloved restaurant in Tennessee is no more after a fire broke out late Sunday night (September 26).

Carmack's Fish Barn, a popular restaurant in Henry County that opened in 1984, was deemed a "total loss" after the building was destroyed by a fire, according to WKRN. The Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire around 8 p.m. Sunday and found flames burning through two-thirds of the roof, according to a post on the department's official Facebook page. After 4.5 hours and a "defensive attack" on the the blaze, Carmack's was considered to be destroyed.

"This is a sad one y'all," the post began in a call log of the incident. "We lost a very special local favorite tonight."

Several agencies provided mutual aid during the incident, including Como Ore-Springs Fire, Paris Fire, Gleason Fire and EMA as well as sheriff's deputies who helped to direct traffic so the fire engines could move throughout the area to fill up with water to fight the flames.

"We are [saddened] to say that it was a total loss," the post continued. "Our deepest sympathies go out to the owners (Kaylene Radford & Corey Radford) for this very unfortunate incident."
