NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —UPDATE: (3-17-20)
Nashville Mayor John Cooper has started a task force amid the coronavirus pandemic as cases continue to rise in Davidson County.
There are now 31 confirmed cases in the Metro area, officials said. The cases range in age from 11 to 73 years old. All cases are self-isolating at home and have mild and manageable symptoms. Two of the cases is hospitalized and all others are self-isolating at home and have mild and manageable symptoms.
This comes after Gov. Bill Lee declared an emergency statewide and a public emergency declaration in the greater Metro area.
The Metro Coronavirus Task Force will include leading clinicians, epidemiologists, and other partners from Metro Government, educational institutions, hospitals, and other important community organizations from throughout Nashville and Davidson County. The task force membership is being finalized at this time.
Dr. Alex Jahangir, MD, MMHC has been announced as chair. He currently serves as Director of the Division of Orthopedic Trauma at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Executive Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Center for Trauma, Burn, and Emergency Surgery
Of the cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee, 13 are in Nashville/Davidson County.
On Thursday, Cooper urged “social distancing” to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
