NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —Enforcement for Nashville's mask mandate begins on Friday. That means anyone in Davidson County who doesn't follow the mask mandate could face a penalty.
According to the Metro Public Health Department, violation of the mandate is a Class C Misdemeanor and a fine of up to $50.
Up until midnight on Friday, Metro Police were told to educate the public on the mask mandate.
This all stems from Metro Public Health Order 8, which went into effect on Monday, mandating folks in Nashville wear masks covering the wearer's mouth and nose.
The mandate came days before Nashville reverted to a modified Phase 2 version of the "Roadmap to Reopening" plan and shuttered bars for at least 14 days as COVID-19 cases have skyrocketed. The annual 4th of July fireworks show and event have been canceled.
