Passenger jumps out of Uber believing she's being kidnapped in Smyrna

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WZTV) —Smyrna Police are searching for an Uber driver after a woman reported she thought she was being kidnapped and jumped out of his vehicle.

Jairo Alfonso Duarte, of Florida, has been identified as the wanted driver.

Police said a female passenger was picked up on Sept. 11 but the driver, Duarte, was traveling in the opposite direction of her destination. She told police she repeatedly told the driver he was driving the wrong way but he ignored her pleas.

Believing she was being kidnapped, the passenger jumped out of the vehicle. Duarte fled the scene.

Duarte is believed to be driving a blue Toyota Camry with Florida tag NLNV92.
