Although I have lived in Nashville for almost 20 years and consider the Music City my home, I grew in Clayton County, GA, on the south side of Atlanta and I was TOO PROUD that my hometown put Joe Biden in the lead in GA early this morning. As much as I want to claim this moment for all of Clayton County, this moment belongs to Civil Rights icon and former Georgia Congressman John Lewis. Clayton County was his district and Donald Trump never gave Lewis the respect he earned, tweeting things like this over the years:
Even after Lewis passed away, Trump famously mentioned Lewis not attending his inauguration. Did Lewis reach his hand out of the grave and help move this election to the correct side of history? I like to think so.
