Tennessee man suspected of storming the U.S. Capitol arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Tennessee man believed to have entered the U.S. Capitol during Wednesday's riot is arrested.

Davidson County Jail arrest records show that 30-year-old Eric Munchel, of Nashville, was booked just before 3 p.m. Sunday. He is charged with one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

The FBI says Munchel turned himself in to Nashville police.

Photos of a person inside of the U.S. Capitol during the events appears to be Munchel, according to the FBI. That person can be seen carrying plastic restraints, an item in a holster, and a mounted cell phone with a camera.

This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Counterterrorism Section of the Department of Justice's National Security Division, with assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee.
