NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —Tennessee Republican lawmakers are calling on state universities to prohibit protesting during the National Anthem. Across the aisle, Democrats argue that universities should support students who choose to protest.
FOX 17 News is asking lawmakers why this is being discussed when there are so many other issues facing Tennesseans right now.
According to a Twitter poll FOX 17 News posted Wednesday, a majority of the people who voted want to see student athlete protests during the National Anthem prohibited; around 52%. Another 40% of people who voted support the students who choose to protest.
