The U.S. is one step closer to legalizing weed on a federal level. A coalition of Senate Democrats, including Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, has drafted a bill that seeks to end the federal ban on marijuana, Schumer revealed Wednesday. “The Senate has to catch up with the American people," he says. Recreational marijuana is currently legal in 18 states. Medical marijuana is legal in 37 states. Personally, I believe this is long overdue and not only do I believe that marijuana should be recreationally legal nationwide, but I also believe we need to release everyone currently serving a jail sentence for a non-violent marijuana charge.
