Will Smith To Be Casted As Genie In "Aladdin" Remake

posted by Lizette Love -

With all the commotion and incredible success of live action remakes like "Beauty and the Beast," Disney decided to go forth with another remake of a CLASSIC..."Aladdin"!!

Being that the late Robin Williams was the original voice over for Genie, and he obviously is no longer with us (RIP Robin Williams!), Disney has decided to cast Will Smith to join the cast!

According to Rolling Stone and Variety, we still don't have too many details about the film. Many are wondering if Genie will be animated at all? We do know, however, who has been casted as Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, new comers Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott will be working along side Will Smith!

It’s a whole new world with a whole new cast.⠀ ⠀ The news was officially announced at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, on Saturday: Mena Massoud (@menamassey) and Naomi Scott (@naomigscott) are your new #Aladdin and Jasmine in Guy Ritchie’s live remake of the animated classic.⠀ ⠀ Will Smith will play the Genie, which was already rumored.⠀ ⠀ Massoud is a Canadian actor whose credits include the series “Jack Ryan,” “Open Heart” and “Saving Hope.”⠀ ⠀ Scott also has an impressive resume, recently starring as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in the big-screen “Power Rangers” reboot.⠀ ⠀ CONGRATS.⠀ ⠀ 📷: @gettyimages

I saw recently that many weren't too happy about who was being casted as Princess Jasmine, fans were hoping Disney would find someone Middle Eastern (you know...since Princess Jasmine is Middle Eastern) to play the role of the princess.

How do you feel about the cast so far for Disney's Aladdin?? Will you be looking forward to checking this out??
