Tha Carter V album has been in talks since 2012, that's a LOOOONG time! Poor Wayne. So much drama with Cash Money it's ridiculous. Wayne has been in an ongoing lawsuit with Birdman's label, Cash Money Records, over this album and MILLIONS of dollars that he was promised, and never saw a dime of. Lil Wayne was promised an $8 million advance for recording Tha Carter V AND an additional $2 million after the project was done. He was never paid, and wanted his contract with Cash Money terminated over the whole ordeal. Thankfully, this lawsuit has come to an end, and in Weezy's favor!
Lil Wayne's attorney filed docs on May 23rd that all parties were ready for the lawsuit to be dismissed. Weezy got his $10 million that was owed to him PLUS some. He ended up being paid out by Universal, "well over $10 million," because they're pretty confident that they'll easily make that money back.
Bottom line: Wayne got paid. PAID. ZERO of it was from Birdman. He is DONE with Cash Money. Fans will finally be receiving Tha Carter V......via Universal.
