The House passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in a 220-212 vote. It includes a ban on chokeholds and no-knock warrants and would reform qualified immunity.
The policing reform bill aims to prevent officers with a problem past from moving from their new department to another— under this reform a national registry is created to keep track of checked records. This reform will also bolster police accountability and end certain police practices that have been under scrutiny after the deaths of Black Americans in the last year. See full story HERE
