Today exclusively revealed the news that the ‘Be Without You’ singer is set to receive the Icon Award. The award “recognizes outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard Charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself,” according to the show.Since being introduced in 2011, the Icon Award has been given to the likes of Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Cher, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Garth Brooks. The Billboard Music Awards mark Blige’s second major show this year. The show air on NBC Sunday May 15th.
